What was in that candle's light that opened and consumed me so quickly? Come back, my friend. The form of our love is not a created form. Nothing can help me but that beauty. There was a dawn I remember when my soul heard something from your soul. I drank water from your spring, and felt the current take me.
I found this about a month ago. This is so cool and fun and quirky. I just love it! And, oh, the cello, whenever I hear it, it just makes me want to cry -- sooo beautiful and intense! But make no mistake, this is not a sad song....take a listen and you should turn off my playlist at the bottom of the page so it doesn't interrupt your listening pleasure!!! P.S. You may have to press 'refresh' to play it.
Enjoy! ~ Calli

It's Friday and it is a fairly gorgeous day out there. I am off to visit family this weekend and just had the urge to post one of my all-time favorite photographs. It symbolizes so many wonderful things for me, but mostly provides me with a sense of 'Freedom'...I suppose there is a side to all of us, our inner child, or in my case my 'inner bohemian' (who quite often makes an outward appearance :), that has to maintain a certain degree of freedom. Freedom of spirit, freedom to create, to just be and I do not take that at all for granted. It is a gift, one in which I treasure.
I came across this image recently and thought it unique, and it actually took my breath away. The energy that clouds seem to contain is so beautiful to me and evokes a sense of melancholy in some ways, yet in others it's a metaphor for change. The clouds always moving whether at a snail's pace or with great force...seems change happens to us in the same manner. Change is a constant that we can always count on, whether we like it or not. Though to me, at this moment in my life, change is incredibly welcome! Bring it on!

These are paintings taken from my old portfolio and many photographed as a collage, sort of an 'artist's virtual sketchbook'...many were painted as lessons from various watercolor technique books. The only one painted at a class was the 'Lighthouse' painting which was painted during a 3 night mini course. I truly do love painting in watercolor and should get back to it. If you would like to see more of these click on my flickr photostream link at the far right of my page. I also have some oil paintings and mixed-media (experimental) paintings. Enjoy!
First day of spring-- I keep thinking about the end of autumn
by Matsuo Basho
Well, I have to laugh at this one as anyone that knows me, knows that I live for Autumn...
Here is a portion of a landscape painting of mine...painted in 2008 - You'll see a Country white church off in the distance. I love to photograph churches in my travels and I have always envisioned that one day my 'studio' would be a little white church or stone church, on my property with beautiful stained glass windows with the light streaming in, especially at sunset and it would just make my sanctuary glow so beautifully. A few years ago I came across several old churches via an HGTV design show that showcased renovated churches whose owners turned them into their own personal homes. They were amazing!
Today, spring equinox arrived here in the northern hemisphere, upstate New York, to be exact. Well, we awoke to a layer of snow this morning ;( not at all uncharacteristic. I did however find some beautiful purple crocus blooming in my garden, which is a welcome sign that spring truly is here, if only just a glimpse of it.
It must be the change of season almost upon us here in NY, that makes me think of simple pleasures, the ones that can make my day or simply put a smile on my face. I love thunderstorms...love, love, love them!
I love my straw hat (though this one isn't mine). I love this image and the great feeling I get from looking at it. I think of Summertime, horseback riding, having a barbeque, going to the beach, strolling in a meadow, climbing a tree.
Thought I'd post my two newest paintings-in-progress. I work on a few at a time, but this is the first time I am literally working on these at the same time on my easel. A little crazy, I know! Most likely one more working session filling in my details and applying varnish to it. I wish I had something more exciting to post, but this is it for tonight.
I have decided to spend more time sculpting. This is my very first attempt at the human female form. She is very rough, raw and ragged, though I like her this way. I am drawn to sculptures that are pristine and smooth and lovely, but to me the rough natural sculptures attract me as well. The second photo is a bit blurry but shows the detail with her hair. It's all an experiment, but I am truly enjoying working in clay. It is so relaxing to sit at my drafting table and just work wijavascript:void(0)th the clay in my hands. It is truly meditative. This work-in-progress came about rather quickly and was spurred on by my playing the soundtrack to one of my favorite films 'A Good Year' in the background...I love so many of the old French songs on it. I love Charles Trenet...
The third photo is of my latest painting titled: A Shared Bond ~ This is also a work-in-progress.
I hope to continue to post some of my works-in-progress...hope you enjoy!
