hey thanks for those kind words - the book you quote from was my favourite of them all - probably because it was the easiest to read - the others made my head hurt, but this book was written how he spoke - his words were intoxicating, he was intoxicating, particular when he was cussing after a few glasses of fire water!!! ;)

Yes, troops in the muddy wetness of the foxholes on the battlefield, just before entering chaos, just before almost certain death or misery...seem to always try to grab a picture, a photo, a rosary, someting to remind them of beauty.

It is indeed a wonderful book - his words always need digesting I find, or should I say time to soak in...so many gems hidden within the pages.
