just Buddha...

I, like so many others, find myself attracted to the teachings of Buddha, though I do not consider myself to be a Buddhist. I do however, love to have his image in my space. His presence instantly invokes feelings of peace. I have collected several Buddha images over the years. The seated Buddha was completely different and the artist in me wanted to antique him, so I did. I love antiquing things and somehow, he seemed better suited to this neutral colour scheme rather than his original vibrant colour scheme. I also adorned him with my Mala Prayer Beads ... I love this quote by Buddha so much so that I wrote it out years ago to keep it under the plexiglass on my drafting table, as a constant reminder to do what I love and to constantly strive to discover my life and through that, my 'self'...

Cool Blog and Pictures...as usual : ) My mother- in -law thinks I am just a horrible sinner and blasphemous for mixing all the religious symbolism and statues and writings...angels and Buddha's...pentagons and stars of David...menorah and crosses...crystals and goblets..tarot cards, bibles and the Koran... all great teaching and tools for learning about oneself.
Blessings on you Calli,
Love and Light, Laura

Like you I have read a lot about the teachings and wisdom, I also have a few Buddhas and love the serenity they bring. Yours is beautiful, as is the quote a great one to have near. I have been to Samye ling here in Scotland, its the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple etc in Europe..my close friend was there at its inception 40 years ago and she was ordained as a nun, but she doesn't wear the outfit any more..Its so incredible to see it in action, the peace there and the wisdom..I can go back and read certain quotes and feel that sense of depth again and again. Very nice, Calli. I love the teachings of Buddha, too. There is so much wisdom there, and even though I am a Christian, I believe that God reveals himself in many ways...

MY friend Barbara {Babe} collects
Buddha, and when I enter her home
a feeling of peace is emitted from
each Buddha.
