She is a work-in-progress...

she is a work-in-progress

she paints pictures and has the need as
deep as any ocean

she attempts to paint her own likeness
only to find, curiously, she cannot.

she is a sometime writer & poet
a bohemian soul at her core and
freedom, she wishes were her middle name.

she is mystical and mysterious
yet an open book

she dreams of a love
so deep
that it simply astounds her
and of fairy tales starring
her and her beloved

she sees beauty in all things ~
in melancholy, even in despair

when she loves, she loves deeply
and completely

she moves in and out of her reality
only because, at times, it’s just too harsh to bear

she loves her children
her god
her mother earth

she is an idealist and a dreamer
she chooses to see the very best in humanity

she lives in a small world
yet a significant one

she has so much love to give

she paints as a way to
express her Self
her emotions
her beliefs

she is in a constant state of evolution, as is her work

a blank canvas thrills her
as she adds brushstrokes one by one
as she leans into something, still unknown

because She, will always be

A work-in-progress…

Calli, you, most among many--are truly a "work in progress". Song I'm hearing right now named Mona Lisa, reminds me SO much of you. Can I just post the words--you can reject if it's too lengthy a comment:

Mona lisa, mona lisa, men have named you
You’re so like the lady with the mystic smile
Is it only ’cause you’re lonely they have blamed you?
For that mona lisa strangeness in your smile?

Do you smile to tempt a lover, mona lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there
Are you warm, are you real, mona lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?

Calli luv,
Believe me > You've made me cry. Why i feel so identified with this gorgeous poem you've written. It seems devoted to me, except for the painting... I do not paint so well, though i try...
Thanks for your comments
Thanks for this precious writing.
Do never stop
Sweet Hugs :) :)

we're evolving and
never really finished, are we?

when we sign off on ourselves
what else is there!

we'd miss next week's
sunburned cheeks or
that silver pirate earring that i
pierce myself with in mid-October.

never finished.
always more. always better, richer.
you're whole. we see this. and this is how we love you.

All I can think of is Joni Mitchell...maybe around the time of For The Roses. You are terrific. Glad to be here again. I will be back.

I just re-read that first comment, Calli. And BY ALL MEANS, you ARE that "warm and real Mona Lisa"!

I didn't make that clear. I find out on these blogs, ya dare not leave anything to chance.

I love the last few lines especially:

a blank canvas thrills her
as she adds brushstrokes one by one
as she leans into something, still unknown

because She, will always be

A work-in-progress…

Wonderful self portrait, Calli!
